Fiberglass tanks PRFV or GRP

Fiberglass tanks (GRP or PRFV ) are made from resin and reinforced with fiberglass, where resins are a family of materials with exceptional chemical mechanical strength characteristics, which allow us to obtain containers suitable for the storage and transport of highly corrosive liquids.

Fiberglass is a composite material being the union of two distinct elements, generally resins and reinforcing fibers, which combined come to determine the characteristics: the polyester resin matrix of the composite, is responsible for the chemical, electrical and thermal characteristics; the glass fiber is the reinforcement that provides the structure with mechanical strength.

GRP OF PRFV TANKS

The internal chemical resistant barrier is obtained with “C” glass veil and polyester resin with high chemical resistance, on top of which a structure is made by winding continuous and crossed wires (filament winding) according to calculated angles with the involvement of the bottoms giving the structure a high mechanical strength; glass type “C” or “E” impregnated with weather-resistant resins is used for the external finish.

The most immediate advantages obtained with this type of tanks are: high chemical resistance, high mechanical strength associated with low weight (about ¼ that of steel), high service life with reduced maintenance, high electrical insulation with high levels of resistance to galvanic corrosion and stray currents, excellent thermal insulation given the low thermal conductivity.
